Turn off and unplug your Dell laptop. Slide the battery release latches on the underside of your laptop and remove the battery.

Touch an unpainted metal surface in your work area to ground yourself and prevent damage to your laptop. Alternately, wear an anti-static wrist strap.

Slide the keyboard's connector cable into its housing near the touch pad on the Dell laptop. This cable is located on the underside of the new keyboard.

Match up the tabs on the front side of the keyboard and place the keyboard on the laptop. Line up the holes in the keyboard with the screw slots in the laptop.

Fasten the keyboard to the laptop with two M2.5 x 5-mm screws and a Phillips screwdriver.

Place the hinge cover on the Dell laptop and pop it back into place.
