When it comes time to make repairs to your Dell Latitude E4200, knowing how to disassemble the keyboard mount is important. Whether you are removing the keyboard to replace the components installed beneath or replacing the Dell Latitiude E4200 Keyboard itself, Dell makes it easy to take apart the keyboard.

Removing the Dell Latitiude E4200 Keyboard

Turn off your laptop and disconnect all power sources from the machine. Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.

Open the laptop screen as far as it will go; rest the screen flat on your work surface.

Locate the small indentation on the right side of the computer near the right hinge. Gently insert the slotted screwdriver into the slot and pry the hinge cover up. Pry the hinge cover up from right to left until it comes loose then remove it from the laptop.

Unscrew the three screws along the top edge of the laptop with the Phillips screwdriver.

Lift the Dell Latitiude E4200 Keyboard by the top edge, exposing the internals of the laptop. Locate the bright blue pull tab at the end of the ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the laptop and gently pull the tab to disconnect the keyboard from the laptop.
