How to Install a Dell Inspiron N7010 Keyboard

Published on by delllaptopparts

If the keyboard on your Dell Inspiron N7010 is malfunctioning, you can replace it with a new one. This process does require some hardware expertise, since the parts you are dealing with are fragile and you could accidentally do serious damage to your computer. If you don't feel comfortable performing this process yourself, you should contact Dell or a service professional to get it done.

Turn off the computer, unplug it, turn it upside down and then remove the battery. Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws that are located in the empty battery bay.

Turn the computer over, open the screen and use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry the hinge cover (the strip of plastic that contains the power button on it) up off the computer in a right to left motion, starting with the small notch in the hinge cover at the far right.

Remove the Dell Inspiron N7010 Keyboard from the computer and unplug it from the computer's motherboard. Plug your new keyboard into the computer and then slide the keyboard in to place.

Snap the hinge cover back into place on the computer, starting on the left edge and moving to the right. Once the hinge cover is in place, flip the computer over and replace the two screws in the battery bay.

Put the battery back in the computer, plug the computer in and power it on.
